Nanamakee Expeditions (grades 9-12)

Nanamakee is CYO Summer Camping’s Outdoor Adventure Trip program.  Serving high school youth, the intent of Nanamakee is to instill personal and environmental awareness in campers while exploring pristine wilderness areas of the Pacific Northwest.  Participants will learn valuable outdoor living skills while exploring their Catholic faith in a community setting surrounded by boundless natural beauty.

High Country Horse Pack Trip Just a short drive from Camp Hamilton, pack trips will leave from the stunning Wahoo Ranch.  From horseback, you’ll encounter vistas of the rugged central Cascades, flowered meadows, and pine forests.  Along the way we’ll camp in tents gathered around the campfire to sing songs, swap stories, and grow in faith.  Just like the cowboys of old, you’ll bond with the horses and fellow campers while enjoying a classic Western setting. See trip itinerary.

San Juan Kayak One of Washington’s crowning creations is the San Juan Islands.  On this trip we’ll be riding the turning tides in the North Puget Sound while learning backcountry camping and water skills.  Each day time will be spent paddling along the picturesque islands observing the epic diversity of the Salish Sea before setting up camp for the night.  At each destination, campers will get to join together in Catholic community around the campfire and reflect on the wonders of God’s Creation. Intermediate swimming ability is required for all water trips (swim 100 yards, tread water for one minute). See trip itinerary.

Sustainable Farming and Olympic Hike Learn how to work the land during your rustic stay on a working sustainable, organic farm on the Olympic Peninsula. Campers will get their hands dirty while learning sustainable farming techniques from a national speaker and presenter, as well as day trips exploring the nearby old growth Rainforest and Pacific coast. See trip itinerary.

Canoe and Float Lake Wenatchee Load up your canoe and step into adventure down the White River and across Lake Wenatchee. Paddle the rapids, swim with the fish, and explore the crystal waters and wilderness of Okanogan-Wenatchee National Forest. When the hard work is over, spend an afternoon relaxing in the sunshine and floating the Wenatchee River. Intermediate swimming ability is required for all water trips (swim 100 yards, tread water for one minute). See trip itinerary.
